ABOUT THE SONG;
The music video for Once I Cut The Rose was shot by my super talented friend Sara Kanakova on a random Thursday morning at 5:00am in Prague. We literally improvised our way through the entire shooting and also in the post production. It’s exactly the opposite process than I had with my previous video You, where everything was prepared, very well thought through and there was a proper team of people working on it. Oh, and an actual set, haha. The song Once I cut the rose is about my first experience with a very strong and profound need to protect someone. That feeling was so strong I would have literally removed thorns from a rose stem so my loved one wouldn’t hurt themselves while enjoying the beauty of the flower. From the musical perspective, I knew I wanted to “embody” the lyrical idea. To me, the laid back drums, overall instrumentation and the production choices are in a great symbiosis. Listening to this track loud on headphones always brings me back to the moment I realised the very emotion of the story. The song was produced by Geoff Tyson.

Originally from Slovakia, dancer and singer-songwriter Dashi Stardust is currently based in Prague. Her first significant collaboration was the creation of a pop-jazz duo with Jakub Tököly. Her first major milestone as a composer of original music was participating in Songwriters' Stories at the La Loca music club in Prague organized by Geoff Tyson in 2019. She was "discovered" by American rock legend Dan Reed (Dan Reed Network) who offered her a collaboration on her first two singles Swan Lake and Colours. These two songs were successfully premiered at Sofar Sounds Prague and Avoid Sessions, where they met with positive feedback from international audiences. During the covid pandemic, Dashi participated in the international online festival URBAN KINGDOM, where more than 50 women from all over the world were selected to come together and present their original work. Trying to adapt to the new situation, Dashi redirected her work from mostly playing live shows to composing new music. Together with Geoff Tyson (T-Ride, Snake River Conspiracy). The duo presented their first collaborative effort live on Discover TV's online platform for concerts around the world. The unplanned pandemic situation bore its creative fruit and resulted in a new album Dashi is going to release by the end of 2022, produced by Geoff Tyson.
